OUR FAMOUS ANGELL SPICE ROASTED POTATOES

Potato Prep

  • 2 lbs baby potatoes or large potatoes, 1/2-3/4” cubed

  • 6-9 Tbsp margarine (we prefer 9 Tbsp)

  • 1/4 cup green onion, 1/4” sliced

  • 1 Tbsp Naughty Angell Spice Shake & Rub

“Salsa"

  • 1.5 cups white onion, 1/4" diced

  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, 1/4” diced

  • 1/2 cup yellow bell pepper, 1/4” diced

  • 1/2 cup red bell pepper, 1/4” diced

  • 2 cups mushrooms, 1/4” sliced

  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning

  • 1 tsp dry oregano

  • 1 tsp dry basil

Bacon Mix (see Recipe Notes below for alternative meat suggestions)

  • 250g of bacon, 1/2” sliced

  • 1 Tbsp margarine

  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic

  • 1 Tbsp minced jalapeños

  • 1/2 tsp Montreal Steak Spice

  • 1/2 tsp cayenne (optional but recommended)

  • 1/2 tsp Sultry Angell Spice Shake & Rub

  • 1/4 tsp seasoning salt

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

The dish we get asked most to make and the recipe we get asked most on how to make is absolutely our Angell Spice Roasted Potatoes! Some of our friends will drop everything and come right over when they hear we are making them.

Not to be confused with our Angell Roasters which are simply olive-oiled, seasoned potatoes, our Famous Roast Potatoes include veggies, meat and a bit more preparation. The key to this recipe is its’ three parts: Potato Prep, "Salsa” and Bacon Mix (can use other meats..see Recipe Notes). Create separately then bring together a heavenly dish which can be enjoyed as a side dish and it is hearty enough to be a meal in itself!

Preheat oven to 450°F degrees.

Potato Prep: Wash and cut potatoes (1/2” - 3/4” cubed/ diced) and place in a large mixing bowl. Set aside.

Bacon Mix: In a medium frying pan over medium-high heat, bring 1 Tbsp of butter to a sizzle. Add garlic, jalapeños and cayenne and stir. Add in bacon and remaining seasonings and stir until cooked halfway. Remove from heat, drain mix of excess grease and add to the potatoes in the large bowl.

“Salsa”: Place all cut salsa veggies and seasoning in a medium bowl and thoroughly mix. Add this salsa to the large bowl of potatoes and bacon.

To the large bowl of potatoes, bacon and salsa, add 1 Tbsp of Naughty Angell Spice and mix well. Spread mixture evenly into a sprayed deep casserole 9”x12” dish. On top of mixture place 6-9 Tbsps of butter and all green onions evenly spread out. Cover with foil and place in the oven for 45-60 mins, stirring every 20 mins.

RECIPE NOTES & TIPS
  • For a quicker cooking time, boil the potatoes for 15mins and drain before adding other ingredients. Cook mixture for less time, approx. 30-45 mins, stirring occasionally.
     

  • For a Different Spin on the Meat Mix, try replacing bacon with 1/2 lb of mild or hot sausage but cook all the way through before adding to the potatoes. Or go wild and make these potatoes with bacon AND sausage!! 
     

  • For Spicier Seasoning: Replace Naughty with Fallen Angell Spice Shake & Rub and add 1/4 tsp cayenne.

  • For a Smokier Accent: Replace Naughty with Sultry Angell Spice Shake & Rub and add 1/4 tsp of Cajun spice.
